BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Burr serves as Patent Counsel with RWR Legal practicing in intellectual property (IP) and related areas of law. Mr. Burr has been a registered Patent Attorney for almost 20 years and is experienced with all forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He provides counsel on a range of IP issues with particular focus on the needs of individual inventors, entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. His industry experience spans work with universities and representing companies in the telecommunications, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceutical, oil field tools, consumer goods, and health and fitness.

Mr. Burr is a registered Patent Attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas, admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. Mr. Burr received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology (minor degree in history) from the University of California, San Diego, and did graduate study in cell biology at the Baylor College of Medicine, School of Graduate Studies before receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center. He has extensive laboratory experience, including work at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining RWR Legal, Matthew Burr was Of Counsel with Gardere Wynne Sewell in Dallas. Early in his career he was a pioneer of university technology transfer at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center identifying inventions, negotiating licenses and orchestrating multi-million dollar IP transactions, including work with major public and private universities, Fortune 500 companies, and financing institutions, including venture capital sources. At RWR Legal, Mr. Burr brings his many years of IP experience to the service of, in particular, entrepreneurs, small businesses, start-ups and individuals.
